Charlie

Ladies and gentlemen, meet Charlie Dee
He’s the greatest man in town
He shot up like a rocket with the world in his pocket
And he’s never gonna come back down

Charlie’s got a Cartier, and he’s got a Bertoni
And an Ivy education
But if he’s gonna stray, they’re gonna take it away
So he better stay in formation

And I say
Charlie, get a little angry
Remember how it used to be before
Charlie, why did you fall asleep?
None of it matters anymore

So Charlie lives in the city
He’s got a job to do
He’s got a brand new house
He’s got a woman, too
But if you’ve gone too far
You won’t know know who you are
What will you do?

And now we’re waving goodbye to Charlie
He had a great life for a while
He did all that he could, but it’s hard to feel good
If you can’t remember how to smile

And if you lost yourself at the top of the chain
Just think back and remember when
You didn’t need validation or the admiration
So get down, you can start again

And I say
Charlie, get a little angry
Remember how it used to be before
Charlie, why did you fall asleep?
None of it matters anymore

(Repeat and fade to end)

(Song)
